OUR STORY
East Side Studios was birthed out of the East Side Church of God community in Anderson, Indiana. Since its beginning in 1951 East Side has been continually seeking ways to provide HOPE for the people of Anderson and around the world. Through this mission they identified a need for a creative space in their community. Director Kameron Robinson was also noticing the same need and with a background in Fine Arts and Theology, it was a perfect fit.

Since the summer of 2016 we have continually been remodeling a residential home into artist studio spaces and studio workshops. East Side Studios has three studio spaces that artists of any medium can occupy for one year. We also manage a pottery studio where we teach private lessons, workshops, and host filed trips. All of our teachers and artists have experience in their field and a heart to see creativity flourish throughout Anderson. Through the workshops we offer and the sales of our pottery, we are able to fund this great outreach into our community.

THE SPACE
Ceramics Space
Our ceramic area consists of six pottery wheels and three electric kilns. We also have a slab roller and a hand building area. We take pride in our work and are always seeking to create things in-house. That being so we also mix our own glazes and process local clay.

Studio Space
Artists have the option of occupying one of our three converted studio spaces. Within those spaces, we allow the creative freedom artists need to build an art practice. Studios are equipped with some basic furniture and access to electricity and water. We encourage artists to make the space their own during their occupancy!
By occupying our space, artists are required to teach workshops to our community and be involved in the local art scene. We also assist with entry fees into art shows in Indiana for the artists, no strings attached. Since the studio leaders are also practicing artists, we want to help artists as much as possible. |
